About This Game
1954: Alcatraz – Unclaimed wealth awaits discovery, but who will be the one to find it? Joe is serving a 40-year sentence on Alcatraz for participating in an armored truck robbery. The stolen goods remain concealed somewhere, with Joe being the only person who knows their location. Meanwhile, in the streets of San Francisco, Joe's former criminal associates and his wife are desperately seeking the hidden money. Who will ultimately claim the fortune? This interactive Point & Click adventure, developed by Daedalic Entertainment in collaboration with Irresponsible Games led by Gene Mocsy, allows players to control both Joe and his wife Christine. Throughout the game, players face choices between loyalty, betrayal, survival, and mortality: Will Christine help Joe escape from prison? Will they locate the fortune together? Or will greed consume them? Could Christine betray her husband, seeking revenge for all the disappointments and a marriage that brought her nothing but suffering? Might she abandon Joe entirely and join his former criminal associates? Or will Joe emerge victorious in the end? 1954: Alcatraz incorporates all elements of an exceptional adventure: difficult puzzles, a mature crime narrative with a dynamic storyline and multiple potential conclusions, and numerous questionable characters: ruthless inmates making life on The Rock even more difficult for Joe, while outside not only his criminal partners but also spies and law enforcement pursue both the money and Christine. The cinematic representation of 1950s San Francisco, rendered in a gritty comic style, portrays a harsh environment. Nevertheless, this setting also allows 1954: Alcatraz to honor history and the spirit of the era through elements like Beatnik culture and other contemporary themes.
