Synopsis

"I advised her not to interfere. I want to state for the record that this is not my fault. I warned her that getting involved would lead to trouble. She never heeds my words.

My name is Orlok Vladimir Dragonov, son of Konstantin Dragonov. I was born in the town of Stoker approximately 230 years ago. At the age of 23, I was due to marry my best friend, Elizabeth Crane. Unknown to me, Elizabeth's sister had been transformed into a vampire four years prior. On my wedding day, my sister-in-law, resolved to keep her sister unwed due to some foolish selfishness, killed and turned me. That is my story. Rather depressing, I suppose.

Two years ago, a hunter named Simona Rinoldt released me from ten years of confinement, imprisonment I owe to her father. We might have saved the world, though I am not sure.

Now we find ourselves in the Hinterlands, the land of Landis, the domain of werewolves. I would slay every human in sight simply for a rolled-up newspaper and a scoop. Actually, I would slay every human in sight just for amusement, but then I am a man of simple tastes.

I repeatedly told her to stay out of others' affairs. It does not concern us. She never listens. And this is the price we pay for helping people. It is never just helping. It is always something more. "What's the worst that could happen", she said.

I will attempt to remember those words when they execute us for regicide.
