About This Game

Step into the role of a leader to secure victory during the Great War! In the midst of a conflict where soldiers fought for every scrap of territory, only foresight could guide armies to success. While history books record the events leading to the 'Great War,' this turn-based strategy game simulates the era with exceptional realism and playability. Brought to you by The Lordz Games Studio, Commander - The Great War is the newest installment in the Commander series, delivering the excitement and strategic challenges of the period. Players experience a vast hex-based map spanning from the USA to the Urals, powered by an optimized engine with full widescreen compatibility. The title includes a Grand Campaign covering the entire war from August 5, 1914, to November 11, 1918, as well as 16 unit types such as Infantry, Cavalry, Tanks, and Artillery. Generals can challenge others via Slitherine's play-by-email system for endless replayability, including cross-platform play against iPad users. Please note that the game is no longer officially supported, with the final patch released in 2015, so some glitches may occur. Features include five Grand Campaigns starting at historical offensives like Verdun in 1916 or the Kaiserschlacht in 1918, over 40 historical and hypothetical events, and 18 unit types with specific strengths and weaknesses. You can assign historical Commanders—Generals, Admirals, and Aces—to your units to enhance their capabilities. Research technologies to upgrade your forces, transitioning aircraft from observation tools to combat planes and improving artillery or armor. The combat system accounts for supply, morale, terrain, and fog of war. The game is easy to learn but difficult to master, supports high moddability via Lua scripting, and runs on resolutions from 1024x600 upwards.
