About This Game

This project merges the visual artistry of Hiroshi “Mr. Dotman” Ono, known for Namco classics like Dig Dug, Xevious, and Mappy, with the musical talents of Yuzo Koshiro, composer of Streets of Rage and Shenmue, to deliver an arranged version in a 1980s arcade style.

Like fools, we rely on games offered for our favorite platforms that are published in magazines, but lately, they seem to have all become so simple, demanding too little of the player’s intelligence and creativity. Now a game has been created that makes us stand up and cry, “Let’s do this!!"

This passage originally appeared in an article announcing Cosmic Cavern.

Cosmic Cavern was first published in the July 1980 issue of I/O Magazine in Japan. As noted in the article, Space Cavern was incredibly addictive due to its allowance for imaginative expression, dense pure fun, and high innovation. It achieved immense popularity and was ported to a wide variety of 8-bit computers from that era.

Alongside the classic release, this collection compiles two arranged versions that update frustrating elements of the original with modern gameplay, along with enhanced features and two-player cooperative support. You get three games in one!
