About This Game
You won't find adventure, gunslingers, outlaws, shoot-outs, or war in the small town of Cow Stone Bell, as Jo would tell you. Growing up on the outskirts of the Wild West with her lazy uncle, Jo is consumed by boredom and craves the excitement she reads about in her collection of "dime novels."
However, when a letter from the President arrives for her absent father, destiny grants her wish in the form of an unexpected journey that takes her far beyond her hometown. Unfortunately, Jo soon discovers that the adventurous life might not live up to her expectations.
Taking place in an alternate universe version of the Wild West, Dead End Junction explores period-appropriate themes including the treatment of Native Americans and the lingering effects of the Civil War (portrayed in-game as the Fuuro and the Border War), many of which still resonate today.
The game's soundtrack draws heavily from the music of that era, featuring both original compositions and arrangements of classic songs like "When Johnny Comes Marching Home" and "Home on the Range."
Dead End Junction was created by Hidume, the sole developer at 773 and creator of the popular Cherry Tree High series. A fan of classic Westerns such as The Magnificent Seven and The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, Hidume showcases their sharp wit here while also demonstrating their ability to craft a serious narrative.
Published by Culture Select and localized for English-speaking audiences, Dead End Junction is a kinetic novel that immerses players in the Wild West atmosphere while tackling social issues that remain relevant in today's world.
