About This Game

Defend the Highlands blends the mechanics of Tower Defense and Real Time Strategy with a Scottish theme. Your mission is to erect defenses, gather Scottish warriors, and manage porridge inventory to withstand the English invasion of Scotland.

You command a squad of Scotsmen under the leadership of Alfredo, a short, hairy, and nationalistic pub owner. Utilizing traditional Scottish arms like golf clubs and haggis catapults, the squad must safeguard locations across Scotland, Wales, and England, first protecting their home soil before carrying the battle to the adversary.

  • Combat strange opponents: Welshmen charging on sheep, English teapot throwers, Irish potato farmers, and others.
  • Construct whimsical defensive towers such as porridge cannons, turnip turrets, and cheese wheel stations.
  • Erecting defenses is just one part; unlike typical tower defense games, you must also garrison your towers with Scotsmen.
  • Enlist Scotsmen by playing bagpipes, but ensure you protect your pipers.
  • Seize and control oat farms to ensure your porridge supplies remain stocked.
  • Lead mighty hero units, ranging from the modest pub owner Alfredo to the legendary William Wallace.
  • Collect points to upgrade your Scottish troops and defensive buildings.
  • Progress through a 20-level story campaign or participate in custom games via skirmish mode.
