Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive is the first strategy game to fuse the movie-like, narrative atmosphere of an adventure with the mental rigor of real-time tactical gameplay. In this western-themed game, you will find a strategy and tactics experience playing out in real time. You lead a team of 6 mercenaries and must figure out how to finish your missions, whether that involves infiltrating an enemy fortress, rescuing a teammate, or escaping an ambush. Combine the diverse skills of your 6 heroes to guide them to success. The story takes place in El Paso, a typical Wild West town in the southwestern United States near the Mexican border in the year 1881. For several months, the trains of the famous Twinnings & Co railroad company have been plagued by a series of hold-ups and attacks. The company management has decided that the raids must end and offers a $15,000 reward for anyone who captures the gang leader. However, no one in or around El Paso has the courage to challenge the might of the bandidos, so the outlaws continue robbing trains, and even the local Marshal stays out of it. Things start to change when a stranger rides into town. Bounty hunter John Cooper visits the local Twinnings & Co manager, offering to end the company's problems for good. He gathers a gang of his old partners and declares war on the bandidos. During his pursuit across half of the southwestern United States, Cooper soon realizes that nothing on this mission is exactly as it seems. Key features include more than 20 enemies with different profiles, ranging from lazy and cowardly bandits to fearsome mercenaries. A team of 6 characters, each with very distinct characteristics, to manage in real time. 25 different levels provide suspenseful intrigue, featuring cinematic transition scenes and breathtaking landscapes, along with amazing artificial intelligence. Each enemy is ranked on 10 different criteria, such as intelligence, courage, marksmanship, and resistance to alcohol. An array of different settings is available: day-time, night-time, storms, dusk, villages, ghost towns, fortresses, gold mines, saloons, prisons, and boats, plus 6 training levels to allow the player to really get into the story.
