About This Game
June 6, 1944 marks the start of D-Day, the pivotal campaign to free Western Europe from Nazi control in World War II. In Frontline: The Longest Day, players lead Allied forces in critical battles to drive the German Army out of Europe. The game features five vast, intricate missions based on real Operation Overlord events: Utah, Omaha, Gold, Cherbourg, Sword, and Juno. Players must make strategic decisions regarding terrain and combat tactics while maximizing the special capabilities of their units to defeat the enemy. Combat includes both land and air elements with over 80 units that possess distinct strengths and weaknesses. Units evolve and upgrade through combat, letting players build a personalized army. The game utilizes sophisticated mechanics such as flanking, encirclement, suppression, fatigue, and various support options like artillery and airstrikes. The battle maps are designed to accurately recreate the real-world terrain of these historical engagements.
