About This Game

The year is 1908, marking the dawn of an unfamiliar 20th century in an equally strange world. This reality experienced a vastly different 19th century, one dominated by countless steam-powered Engines. The unnaturally swift rise of this steam civilization has turned the skies grey and the seas a deep black. The term "Sea," once evoking blue waters, now describes something dark and putrid. The European Kingdom of France's harbor city of Marseille looks out upon these black waters, but here lies something unique found nowhere else on Earth. A massive artificial island, imposing as a fortress, serves as both a city and a bustling school filled with life. This is the Marseille Offshore Academia. Built upon cutting-edge engine science, the academy is designed to produce the greatest Erudite Scholars. Standing above polluted waters and below smog-filled skies, it nonetheless gleams like a jewel, radiating with the energy of youth and recalling the lost sun and stars. However, the Academia harbors a secret that even the French monarchy fears. The school is controlled by the "English West India Company," a secret society that rules Europe's underworld with an iron fist. Unable to expose the truth, powerful nations can only watch and wait. The Academia is a closed island city-state where no student may leave except as a "graduate." It is a society for the young, self-sufficient and independent, under the absolute rule of the "Governing Council"—an elite branch of the English West India Company. It is a radiant distortion in the world, creating talent and supernatural Arts, a garden of secrets that is impenetrable. Yet, in the spring of 1908, a single young man enters its walls. Declaring war on the Governing Council, he introduces himself as "Nikola Tesla. 72 years old. I'm a transfer student." He tells the hundred thousand students cursed by fate that he will save them all with his own hands. At the summit of Château d'If, the Bell of Gahkthun rings out, announcing the time of rejoicing.
