About This Game
Half-Life: Alyx marks Valve's virtual reality revival of the iconic series. The tale unfolds in the gap between Half-Life and Half-Life 2, chronicling a hopeless battle against the malevolent alien force called the Combine.
In the role of Alyx Vance, you represent the last hope for mankind. Since the Black Mesa incident, the Combine's grip on the planet has tightened, forcing survivors into cities. This group includes some of the planet's smartest minds: yourself and your father, Dr. Eli Vance.
As leaders of a growing resistance, you have carried out secret scientific operations—conducting vital studies and crafting essential gadgets for the few humans daring enough to oppose the Combine.
Each day brings new knowledge about your adversary, bringing you closer to discovering a vulnerability.
REGARDING VR GAMEPLAY:
Valve's return to the universe that started it all was created specifically for virtual reality from the ground up. The technology is utilized to facilitate the core gameplay mechanics of Half-Life.
Engage in intense combat, solve puzzles, explore the world, and interact deeply with your surroundings.
Lean around a fractured wall and beneath a Barnacle to line up a difficult shot. Scour shelves for shotgun ammo and a medical syringe. Use tools to breach alien systems. Break a window with a bottle to divert an enemy's attention. Pull a Headcrab from your face and hurl it out the window.
COMMUNITY-CREATED SETTINGS
The game comes with Source 2 development tools, allowing anyone to construct and share new maps via Half-Life: Alyx's Steam Workshop. Hammer, Valve's level design software, has been upgraded to include all the virtual reality gameplay components and tools found in the game.
