About This Game
The month is June, 1983. The sweltering summer heat has arrived sooner than in previous years. The days are filled with the noise of cicadas, while the nights belong to the higurashi. Hinamizawa is a tiny village located in the Japanese countryside. Although the population is less than two thousand, every year, a specific "something" occurs. For the last four years, there has been one fatality and one disappearance annually. This chain of strange events is linked to the local opposition against a dam project that was eventually abandoned. A killing that happened during the construction, which local officials covered up, appears to be repeated year after year. Is it a conspiracy? Is it simply chance? Or is it a curse? A person who was expected to be present is absent. A person who was not expected is there. Someone living just last night is now dead, and someone present right now is not among the living. It seems impossible to stop this tragedy. There seems to be no option other than to give up. However... please do not lose hope.
