About This Game
Developed by Valve, the studio famous for Counter-Strike and Half-Life, Left 4 Dead is a co-op action horror experience for PC and Xbox 360. It immerses up to four players in an intense battle for survival against relentless hordes of the undead and horrifying mutants. Set right after the outbreak of the zombie apocalypse, the survival co-op mode allows players to fight through four distinct "movies." These campaigns guide survivors across abandoned city rooftops, rural ghost towns, and pitch-black forests as they attempt to escape the infection-riddled Ground Zero. Each movie contains five expansive maps designed for one to four human players, focusing on team-based strategy and objectives. The game utilizes "the AI Director," a new technology that generates a unique experience every session by dynamically adjusting the frequency and ferocity of zombie attacks based on player performance, creating a cinematic, fast-paced horror atmosphere. Features include addictive single player, co-op, and multiplayer gameplay. Versus Mode enables four-on-four competition where friends play as survivors trying to escape or as boss zombies attempting to destroy them. Survival Mode challenges players to see how long they can hold out against the infected horde. The advanced AI director dynamically ensures intense and unique moments. The title includes 20 maps, 10 weapons, and endless possibilities across four sprawling "movies." A matchmaking, stats, rankings, and awards system drives collaborative play, and a Designer's Commentary lets players go behind the scenes. Powered by Source and Steam, the game also features "The Sacrifice" DLC. This prequel to "The Passing" follows the original L4D Survivors as they head South, advancing the story and introducing a new finale with "Sacrificial Gameplay" where players decide who gives their life so others may live. This campaign is playable in Campaign, Versus, and Survival modes.
