About This Game

The Empire of the Machines jeopardizes the whole universe. The League of Aliens and the U.N.E. have allied to protect the galaxy from the intruder. While battles are widespread, the strategic edge is secured within the intricate tunnels of the Machines subterranean production facilities, where victory is determined. Originally created by Clark Browning, Marco Pecota, and Derrick Villeneuve, Legions of Steel is a tactical board game set in a hazardous environment. French developer Studio Nyx has successfully adapted the deep and intricate rules, featuring sleek 3D models, a smart and user-friendly UI, and a variety of new features. Experience turn-based tactical combat where each unit boasts unique skills and traits. Equipped with specific weapons and abilities, the game offers complexity for veterans while remaining simple for beginners. Electronic Warfare serves as a standalone game mode that players can toggle to completely alter the experience. This mode is playable on all maps. Utilize various Tactical Options, including a host of firing choices. The Advanced Covering Fire mechanism grants precise control over unit actions during the enemy turn. Grenades can be hurled around corners to break deadlocks or used by Machines to create smoke screens. Leadership points, a limited resource, allow players to bend standard rules, enabling extra moves, boosted firing accuracy, or dodging bullets during the opponent phase. An initiative roll occurs at the start of each turn on every map, with Leadership available to sway the outcome. The victor of the roll selects who plays first, disrupting the linear flow of turn-based games and keeping the starting player uncertain. Suspense is paramount, with radar detection and echoes adding tension to every move. The content includes two playable factions with unique gear and units, two immersive single-player campaigns, and 15 scenarios for single or multiplayer modes. Multiplayer features allow you to play with friends online via asynchronous, cross-platform multiplayer using Slitherine’s PBEM++ server, or offline via hotseat mode. The tournament system is based on the Swiss System, a non-elimination format. This approach is flexible and dynamic, fostering a more challenging and competitive environment.
