About This Game

Lords of the Black Sun is a grand, intricate, and dense turn-based 4X strategy game set in the depths of space.

Assume leadership of a specific faction in the galactic fight for dominance. As the head of your civilization, you must explore the cosmos, settle new planets, govern your realm, and defeat any enemies who stand in your way.

The galaxy holds many secrets and hazards: Find ancient ruins and artifacts, fight or ally with pirates, and promote a general to lead your armadas to triumph. Scheme with your partners or use spies to find weaknesses in the hostile empire that has sworn to destroy you.

Ensure your citizens remain content, or face demonstrations against your governance, or in the worst situation, insurgent groups within your own borders.

Only the most powerful leaders can succeed in the deep reaches of space. Can you rise to the challenge and become a Lord of the Black Sun?

Key features:

  • 8 primary civilizations, each with unique vessel designs, tech trees, attributes, and skills, meaning every race offers a distinct challenge and new strategic approaches.
  • Massive, active cosmos: Alongside the main powers, minor species and pirate clans also inhabit the galaxy; their presence can be a nuisance or an advantage if utilized correctly.
  • Intricate economic and political systems: Warfare is not the only path to weaken opponents. Diplomacy, espionage, and commerce are powerful tools that, if handled well, can be highly effective.
  • Strategic turn-based warfare.
  • Construct and personalize your own vessel layouts.
  • Generals: These exceptional and powerful units develop through combat and can determine the outcome between victory and defeat if used wisely.
  • Randomly generated galaxy, technology tree, and units: No two playthroughs will ever be identical.
  • Empire fragmentation: Civil unrest may lead rebels to start a civil war, potentially resulting in a new, sovereign state that could grow to rival your own.
  • Plotting: Secretly fund conflicts against your rivals to weaken them or plan a surprise joint assault with your allies to destroy the rapidly expanding empire.
  • Human-like AI that adheres to the same rules as players without cheating, providing a constant challenge.
  • Play Multiplayer and Hotseat modes via LAN or IP/internet.
