About This Game

Reclaim your wealth, bring back your dignity and punish those who have betrayed you.

Merchants of Kaidan is a difficult trading game blended with numerous RPG features. Your journey begins modestly with only a cart, a bag filled with gold and silver coins. Your mission is to travel across the world seeking opportunities to earn profits. The merchant's principle "buy low, sell high" seems simple, yet the profession proves more challenging than expected.

A successful merchant must understand everything about the market - constantly watching for deals, listening attentively, and continually improving their knowledge. They comprehend what forces affect prices and what events trigger changes. Wise merchants listen to rumors spread by travelers at inns and taverns, hoping for clues about profitable opportunities. They surround themselves with specialists smarter than themselves - individuals who help maximize profits and minimize losses. They continuously expand their fleet of carts, balance risks, and calculate profitability.

Conditions are constantly changing, as are supply and demand for various goods. Perhaps you'll want to purchase furs cheaply during summer and sell them at significant profit as winter approaches and people need warmth.
But is it worth transporting them for many days, risking robbery, moth damage, and using valuable space that could be used for goods offering immediate profit?
Or perhaps purchasing illegal herbs in distant swamps where they cost almost nothing, then smuggling them into the city for tremendous profit? But what if city guards decide to inspect you? Should you offer a bribe? How much? Maybe the best strategy is to claim you have nothing and hope they don't find anything?

These are the types of questions you'll constantly face.

You are Olivean de Calinn, and today was supposed to be the most significant day of your life. Your father had been preparing you for years for this exact moment - your 21st birthday.

Finally an adult, capable of caring for yourself, a person worthy of continuing your father's legacy.

Your father wasn't born wealthy. To purchase his first cart, he worked tirelessly saving every silver and copper coin. Trade by trade, step by step, he climbed the ladder, transforming his small one-man business into a significant trading company.

Then he met Van Talodd, the kingdom's most famous merchant, and soon entered into partnership. This venture proved extremely profitable, and Van Talodd promised your father something more precious than money - a lordship. Weeks ago he departed for the capital, Ovoros, to accept this title. His return took longer than expected, but recent weather had been unfavorable - perhaps he got stuck or a road became a swamp... such things happened frequently.

Dusk was approaching when you heard knocking at the door. A messenger, clothes stained with mud, delivered a letter. There was no lordship - your father had been branded a traitor, enemy of the Kingdom, and executed after a hasty trial for conspiring against the king. All his assets and estate were confiscated and given to the person who exposed the supposed plot - Van Talodd.

Suddenly everything became clear. Van Talodd had tempted him with promises of a lordship - the one thing money couldn't buy. But his true intention was to entrap your father and seize his fortune.

Instead of a birthday gift, you received carts filled with the king's mercenaries approaching rapidly. There was no time to lose - you had to run far and fast. Escape the men certainly sent to kill you.

This is just the beginning of your story. You're left with only the family ring you wore. Take a fake name as you seek to avenge your father. Follow in his footsteps, grow wealthy, and destroy Van Talodd. The journey will be difficult and lengthy - are you strong enough to succeed?

Kaidan is a fictional world that once hosted a space-faring civilization. Its history remains largely unknown. Only that after developing starships, they relatively quickly abandoned the planet. A new, far less developed civilization has emerged from the remnants of the old one. Without the artifacts left by their predecessors, they would be indistinguishable from a medieval society.
