Game Overview: Nightshade is a romantic visual novel created through collaboration between D3P Otomebu and Red Entertainment, both renowned for their production of high-quality visual novels. The game features character designs and illustrations by the acclaimed artist Teita, with the story focusing on ninjas who survived Japan's Sengoku Period. The narrative is set in Japan shortly after the Sengoku Period, following romantic relationships between the protagonist and other key characters amid a tale of divided loyalties. While the story is fictional, it incorporates real historical figures and events, making it appealing to history enthusiasts. Players can experience multiple endings, with two possible conclusions for each of the five main characters. Both the ending cinematic and music change based on the player's choices throughout the game. The entire game features full voice acting by popular Japanese voice actors. Game World Background: During the Sengoku Period, the Iga and Kōga ninja clans fought each other for decades. In 1593, Nobunaga Oda initiated the Tenshō Iga war, nearly eliminating the Iga ninja clan. The few survivors were eventually assimilated into the Kōga clan, despite their historical rivalry. Seventeen years later, the Sengoku Period ended and Japan was unified. Enju, the protagonist and daughter of Kandō Ueno (head of the Kōga clan), trains diligently to become a fully skilled ninja like her peers. When she's finally assigned to her first mission, she becomes entangled in a dark conspiracy.
