About This Game
The original Indie Cult Classic has returned, fully restored and more evocative than before. Pathologic Classic HD is the ultimate version of the original Cult Classic Psychological First-Person Survival game. It offers a unique and unforgettable experience, placing players in a strange town that crouches ominously in the distant steppe. Once a small settlement near a monstrous abattoir, the town has developed a bizarre social structure over generations. It could have continued its weird existence, but a sudden outbreak of an unknown, lethal disease has decimated the population. Prayers and science failed, so the locals turned to outsiders for help: three individuals enter the town seeking a cure or an explanation. The first is a ruthless investigator sent by authorities; the second is a far-sighted surgeon, the Ripper, searching for his father's heritage; and the third is an eccentric girl rumored to have mystic healing powers, though she is plagued by fear and past horrors.
While Pathologic appears as a first-person horror adventure where you control one of three "heroes," it deeply affects your emotional and psychological state. In this world, morals are meaningless against raw despair. You must talk to the townsfolk and decide whether to ease their pain or save medicine for yourself to survive the invisible plague. Witness the horror as the disease overcomes the town.
This edition features a brand new in-house English script, new voice-overs, and restored text content previously cut from the international version. It also includes updated textures, higher resolutions support, and new visual effects. Additionally, it includes a fan-made Polish translation and the original Italian translation.
Key features include this indie cult classic, 12 days in a plague-ridden town where time runs out regardless of your actions, and over 70 hours of real-time gameplay without grinding. There are three playable characters with unique storylines—the Bachelor, the Haruspex, and the Changeling—whose interconnected plots offer separate quests and dialogues. The critically acclaimed plot focuses on ideological conflict regarding life, death, and miracles. It is an open-world game with no artificial boundaries, allowing exploration from day one. Survival is difficult, requiring you to manage hunger and immunity, often necessitating tough choices. You must communicate, barter, rob, or steal to acquire necessities. The atmosphere is one of bleakness and despair without cartoonish evil, offering no simple solutions or jump scares.
