Qajary Cat

Years ago, Iran was under the thumb of a tyrannical king who hoarded wealth while his subjects starved. When this monarch falls deathly ill, a drenched stray cat named Babri Khan and her kitten seek shelter in his palace. The kitten ends up hidden under the king's bed, and driven by a local superstition that this act cures the sick, the ruler miraculously recovers. He grows fond of the cat, elevating its status, which incites the jealousy of the court women. They eventually dispose of the cat in a distant well. Now, Babri Khan must embark on a wondrous adventure to return to the palace, facing challenges that include meeting aliens, deciphering riddles for a blind mouse, and conversing with a parrot. This comedic narrative offers a critique of the Qajar era, portraying a cat's struggle against oppression.
