About This Game
RIOT: Civil Unrest provides a distinctive strategic experience immersing players in contemporary real-world conflicts. Campaigns feature Indignados (Spain), Arab Spring (Egypt), Keratea (Greece), and NoTAV (Italy), alongside over thirty scenarios including the Gilets Jaunes in Paris, protests in Buenos Aires, Caracas, and the G20 clashes in Hamburg. This complex strategy game assigns specific objectives for each scenario, allowing players to determine their approach, ranging from aggressive suppression to softer tactics, with performance ratings affected by public perception. A robust Steam Workshop Editor is included for creating and sharing custom scenarios. Developed by Leonard Menchiari, drawing on his firsthand experience at the NoTAV protests, the game explores the emotions and narratives from both perspectives of a conflict where no one truly wins. Players can direct police forces using various crowd-control units, vehicles, and ammunition, or lead rioters to incite violence and utilize media influence. The title offers sixteen campaign levels playable from both sides, single-player AI modes, and local versus play.
