About This Game
RoBoRumble presents a real-time 3D strategy experience featuring two major battle campaigns, each comprising 15 missions, along with a multiplayer mode supporting intense combat for up to four players simultaneously. A standout feature of RoBoRumble is its distinctive approach to Unit assembly. Unlike typical games in this genre where players select from pre-designed Units, RoBoRumble empowers players to construct their own Units from various components. This approach yields significantly more variations and adds an additional strategic layer to the gameplay.
Each Unit (called a "Robo") comprises a chassis with a mounted weapon. Chassis options span from two- or four-legged runners to jet-powered, tracked, wheeled, or even teleporting vehicles. Weapons are equally varied, including standard options like lasers, heavy artillery, and machine guns, alongside inventive creations like the "Oiler," which hampers enemies by creating slippery surfaces, and the "Whirlwind," which launches enemies against nearby walls. Both factions in the conflict have access to eight distinct chassis and weapons. One faction relies on "brawn," emphasizing raw firepower, while the other employs "brains," focusing on superior weapon design. Regardless of the chosen faction, players begin with limited weapon options that can be expanded by awarding development contracts between missions.
The third optional component for a Robo is known as the "Booster." While typically costing much less than the chassis and weapon, Boosters can significantly impact gameplay. Some enhance a Robo's speed, while others boost firepower or firing range, confer invisibility, or increase intelligence.
The intricate Robo creation process contrasts sharply with the intentionally straightforward resource management system. Both the player's and enemy's armies originate from a dome-shaped, glowing "Energy Pool," which serves as both source and main base that must be defended. The pool's capacity, which varies by mission, provides the player with a "budget" for creating Robos. When a Robo is destroyed, its invested "energy" returns to the pool, allowing the player to construct new units.
The base features three distinct energy levels. When any level sustains enough damage to be destroyed, it triggers a powerful explosion that eliminates all enemies in the vicinity. This defensive mechanism buys time for the defending side to regroup and launch a counterattack.
