About This Game

School Fab Lab Virtual Reality replicates a simulated physical environment where users can explore different stations and study various digital fabrication methods. Immersion in the Fabrication Laboratory allows for interaction with machines, teaching users how to operate them and what can be fabricated. Designed for students, K-12 schools, and educational institutions, SFL VR delivers knowledge and training on digital fabrication without needing physical access to the equipment or space. Inside the Fab Lab, you engage with machines, learning their usage and potential, flying drones, and building 3D printers. If you aim to establish a Makerspace, this environment aids in understanding machine dimensions, space requirements, and layout regarding your physical area. The School Fab Lab Virtual Reality App permits you to: 3D Print, Laser Cut, Vinyl Cut, and CNC Mill numerous objects from various materials; handle objects to inspect your builds and comprehend object physics and dynamics; locate pre-selected objects online to import into the VR space; master the assembly and disassembly of 3D printers; practice drone piloting with a first-person-view (FPV) flight simulation; operate machines to grasp the digital fabrication workflow; experience additive and subtractive manufacturing; learn 3D space navigation; and customize the space layout. Mission: We are passionate about empowering youth with 21st-century skills. Our goal is to enhance STEAM education in schools by using mixed reality as a toolkit for educators. More about the App: Over the last four years, we have created Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) applications to bring digital fabrication laboratories, or Fab Lab Makerspaces, into K-12 education. These Apps enable educators to build immersive environments that introduce digital fabrication machines to the classroom. Students discover how 3D Printers, Laser Cutters, Vinyl Cutters, and CNC Milling Machines function and experience fabricating various items. With this new tool, teachers and students can design, configure, and turn their classroom into a virtual Fab Lab Makerspace utilizing VR, AR, and situated learning.
