The narrative begins close to the Dreighton Nebula, with Rookie One participating in a Rebel scouting mission. He is looking into the vanishing of Rebel ships in the area, a place steeped in myths regarding missing spacecraft. These tales date back to when early hyperspace explorers lost their direction and vanished within the nebula's currents and storms. During the Clone Wars, two clashing battle groups, at the peak of combat, were consumed by the Dreighton Nebula, leaving it as the sole victor.
