About This Game
Steamburg is an acclaimed puzzle adventure title featuring narrative exploration components and innovative gameplay mechanics. Developed by Telehorse, a specialist in steampunk-themed games, it received the 'Best Upcoming Game' award at IMGA in San Francisco during March 2017. Players assume the role of Professor Vincent Cornelius Moore, who confronts mechanical enemies that have overrun the city of Steamburg. The gameplay stands apart because Vincent lacks weaponry, necessitating strategic movement decisions. His only defensive option involves deploying small electro-bombs that attract robots and temporarily stop their advance. Vincent must navigate the streets strategically to lead pursuing robots into Tesla coils, which destroy them. Initial levels may seem straightforward, but challenges increase as players must simultaneously face multiple robots that become progressively faster. Some robots gain flight capabilities, while others react to Vincent's every action. Storytelling elements play a crucial role in the experience. Steamburg won the 'Best Storytelling' award at White Nights in Helsinki in 2016. Through dialogues, players learn that Vincent is a scientist who was testing a new weapon in Steamburg. Concurrently, he searches for his fiancée, who was reported to be in the city during the robot attack. Certain narrative aspects are directly integrated into the gameplay. Players can also discover numerous letters and photographs, gradually revealing the romantic history between Vincent and his fiancée. Features include: Distinctive and engaging gameplay, 32 levels spanning atmospheric steampunk environments, multiple hidden areas and numerous narrative objects to discover, exceptional voice acting featuring American and British performers, including Bruce Glover (renowned for roles in Diamonds Are Forever and Chinatown), original musical score by Silver Rocket.
