About This Game

The First World War began on June 28, 1914, in Sarajevo when Gavrilo Princip assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife, triggering one of the deadliest conflicts in human history. For four years, the ground shook from gunfire, the air whistled with bullets, and the skies were darkened by smoke. This conflict marked the first use of weapons of mass destruction and involved unprecedented numbers of troops fighting across land, sea, air, and even underwater. The Entente WWI Battlefields allows you to witness these events firsthand and attempt to alter the course of history. As a player, you choose one of five countries—France, Germany, Russia, Austro-Hungary, or England—to command in this real-time strategy game, controlling a diverse range of units from infantry and cavalry to battleships. All units are historically accurate, created using archival documents and photos, and each nation possesses unique characteristics that highlight their specific tactical advantages and disadvantages. Economic and military advisors are available to assist with managing development, upgrades, resource gathering, and unit production. The game features over 1,000 structures and 80,000 units, 3D sound design, and a comprehensive armament encyclopedia to immerse you in the role of a high commander responsible for the fate of nations. Notable features include being one of the earliest games based on actual WWI events, massive battles involving up to 10,000 units per side, non-linear mission structures with authentic battles, and nation-specific weaponry, armor, vehicles, and buildings. Entente Gold expands the experience with two additional campaigns containing seven missions each, as well as a map and mission editor.
