About This Game
This port of the successfully crowdfunded Sega Mega Drive / Genesis title, Xeno Crisis, is an arena shooter that supports solo play or local co-op. Take charge of battle-hardened marines on a dangerous mission to stop an alien menace and survive. Blast through thousands of enemies while exploring the ruined research outpost, looking for survivors, and discovering the cause of the facility's downfall. Outpost 88 consists of seven distinct areas, each procedurally generated to ensure you must adapt your tactics to succeed. Collect dog-tags from defeated foes to upgrade your gear between levels and find special weapons for a temporary edge. You have access to an arsenal of weapons, each with unique characteristics. While your standard pulse rifle is reliable, other weapons provide situational benefits, so grab them—but watch your ammo! You will encounter a variety of enemies with different traits and attacks as you progress. Some can be gunned down easily, while others require you to outflank them, attack within a time window, or be avoided entirely. At the end of each area, trade dog-tags for upgrades like extra health, weapon power-ups, or extra continues based on your play style. The game is a faithful port of the 16-bit hit with extras, featuring pixel art by Henk Nieborg and an intense FM chiptune soundtrack by Savaged Regime for the YM2612. It includes two difficulty levels, three game modes, seven diverse areas, many enemy types, and 10 weapons to master. Play alone or with a friend in local co-op (2 players requires at least one controller).
